Are there different kinds of laws? |

For the sake of convenience, laws may be classified as Public laws (which deal with matters which affect the public as a whole such as Constitutional law, taxation law, criminal law) and private laws (dealing with rights of individual persons such as property rights, contracts etc.); OR Criminal laws (dealing with offences and punishment) and civil laws (dealing with other remedies such as compensation, injunction etc.); OR Substantive laws (which lay down the rights and duties of persons) and adjective/procedural laws ( which govern the procedure for enforcing those rights) |
