Review
Sunny Deol is back in his favorite role – doing dhishum, dhishum scenes and making people cry out for help.
Arjun Pandit is a story of a soft, goody -goody guy who turns into a virtually possessed lover. The Pandit in the title comes from his
background of a language professor in a college where he is known as Arjun Dikshit.
Arjun Dixit (Sunny Deol) is a yoga professor in Hardwar who speaks in pure Hindi. Nisha (Juhi Chawla) comes over from Mumbai to do
some research. Nisha lures Arjun to fall in love with her but she herself have no feelings for him. Her love for him is nothing but a
charade to take revenge for the death of her sister.
A tame Arjun had refused to give evidence against the rogue son of the woman MLA who had raped a college girl. This leads to her
suicide and Nisha cleverly leads on Arjun to finally get him involved in a murder case. Arjun fails to convince her about his reasons
for backing out.
As a true lover, Arjun can kill anyone for his ladylove. As a consequence, Sanjay (Arbaaz Khan) gets killed and Arjun enters the world
of crime, where he comes face to face with gangsters like Haldiram (Ashish Vidyarthi) and Ramanibhai (Mukesh Rishi).
Haldiram exploits Arjun's sentiments to settle scores with his rival, Ramanibhai for a share of the Mumbai's crime pie.
Well, as always happens, the truth prevails and all is well in the end.
The fight sequences, especially one amidst silent, praying monks on a riverbank, are well executed.
Sunny Deol and Juhi have been paired a long time after their hit Darr. Sunny's trademark frown, glare and raw energy take the
film forward at a fast pace. Juhi shows her experience and confidence in acting as the girl who till the very end refuses to
acknowledge Sunny's fierce love for her.
Bhangra pop king Daler Mehndi teams up with Juhi for a foot-tapping song Kudiyan Shahar diyan. Ashish Vidyarthi has tried to
speak the Bhojpuri language, which has become a common thing in Hindi movies. But one wonders how many underworld dons in Mumbai are
from eastern UP and Bihar?
The movie is a must for Sunny fans
