Review
Kabhie Kabhie is a story of a young poet Amit (Amitabh Bachchan), and the young and beautiful Pooja (Rakhee Gulzar).
It is a story about how these two young and loveable hearts visualise a perfect future together while destiny has other plans, as
Pooja bows to the wishes of her parents and marries Vijay (Shashi Kapoor).
Amit drifts away from his poetry in a futile and unsuccessful attempt to leave behind his memories of Pooja by getting married to
Anjali (Waheeda Rehman). How picture perfect is the life of Pooja and Vijay together is what a part of Kabhie Kabhie is about.
Spanning over to the next generation and how Pooja and Vijay’s son Vicky (Rishi Kapoor) and Anjali’s daughter Pinky (Neetu Singh) from
her relationship prior to Amit, and Anjali and Amit’s daughter Sweetie (Naseem) come together, and a chain of events bring together
old lovers as friends, some 20 years later is what forms the rest of Kabhie Kabhie.
Kabhie Kabhie is a film about love story of generations, a film that happens 'sometimes'.
To date, Yash Chopra maintains that Kabhie Kabhie was an art film in commercial garb. First of all the title was very poetic, secondly
he had Amitabh in a moustache and as a father of two young adults. Yash Chopra's financer and friend Gulshan Rai even told told him
after watching the film that he wasn't keen on risking his money. There were thin chances of success for such a film. But Yash did not
budge on the film. He released it. Kabhie Kabhie went on to become the biggest hit of the year.
