Synopsis
Rahul (Tusshar) is a handsome youngster with a rebellious streak. He has been brought up in New Zealand, and now studies in a college.
In the same college is a beautiful and hard-to-get girl Esha (Esha Deol).
Being a go-getter Rahul makes his advances towards Esha. He, along with his college friends, plays pranks on Esha to attract her
attention.
Esha is also an extrovert who is unimpressed by Rahul’s pranks. She, however, is carried by his ‘who-cares’ attitude and his sense of
humor. It doesn’t take Rahul very long to befriend Esha. And their friendship soon blossoms into love.
Although Esha is a modern girl, she still retains many Indian values. It’s because she has been brought up in a close-knit family by
her parents (Raj Babbar and Neena Kulkarni). She believes in the institution of marriage.
Rahul, on the other hand, is pampered young man who has often seen petty domestic arguments at home between his father (Rajesh Khanna)
and mother (Smita Jayakar). Seeing his parents quarrel over trivialities Rahul becomes convinced of the futility of marriage. He
believes that a relationship doesn’t necessarily have to end in marriage.
Do differences arise between Rahul and Esha and drive them apart? What happens next?
Review
After making a successful debut in “Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai”, junior jumping jack Tusshar Kapoor is back again playing a similar role
opposite Esha Deol in Sanjay Chhel’s “Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa”.
The film, a remake of the Telugu hit “Swayamvaram”, is a romantic comedy with some emotional family drama from the likes of Rajesh
Khanna, Smita Jaykar, Raj Babbar and Neena Kulkarni.
Tusshar plays Rahul, a confused lover who doesn’t believe in marriage but wants to be ‘just lovers’ with Esha (Esha Deol).
Esha on the other hand demands a commitment from him. He refuses and she walks out on him.
What’s surprising in the story is that instead of taking his stand Rahul keeps coming back to Esha but doesn’t agree to marry her.
Esha too softens her stand and breaks into a song with him time and again. But when she asks him to marry her, his answer is a simple
‘no’.
At last Esha decides that she has had enough and agrees to marry the guy of her parents’ choice. It is at her marriage mandap
that the real drama unfolds when Rahul storms in.
Here, director Sanjay Chhel springs a surprise. Esha leaves the mandap and tells Rahul that she is willing to have a
relationship on his terms. But now Rahul has had a change of heart. He asks her to marry him. Happy ending…
