Review
Raj Kapoor made his first color film much later than other big producers in the Hindi production-sector who had already made their
first color productions.
Since Sangam was to be R K's first color venture, Raj Kapoor ensured exquisite treatment to the film. There was a glittering
starcast, lovely European locales and beautiful songs, all of which went to add to the glamour of the film.
Raj Kapoor did not want Sangam to be an ordinary release in India. To every major city where the film was premiered, Raj took
his team of stars and technicians along to attend the premieres. It was showmanship at its flamboyant best and the whole country was
storming the 'Advance Booking Windows' to be amongst the first to see this most eagerly awaited film of Raj Kapoor's and to meet the
stars in person too.
Dilip Kumar was Raj's first choice for the role that eventually went to Rajendra Kumar.
The European shooting of Sangam took them to Rome, Interlaken, Paris, London and finally to Hamburg to the Dancing Fountains.
Every night Raj took Vyjayanthimala, her grandmother Yadugiri Devi, an aunt of hers, Allauddin and Radhu, Rajendra Kumar, J.K.Nanda,
Sarosh Mody and C.L.Bali, to dine at this or an expensive night club.
