Review
Now that Cricket World Cup is over, Bollywood producers are all set to release several big films. One of them is ‘Sirf Tum’. It’s a
love story, a bit different from the usual Hindi movies.
Deepak (Sanjay Kapoor) is an executive working in Kerala. He is an orphan and leads a loveless life. He is sweet with everyone he
meets and goes out of his way to help them. It is his helpful nature that brings him into the life of Aarti (Priya Gill).
Aarti is a poor girl who has to live with her sister. She is a resident of Nainital but occasionally makes trips to Delhi as well for
her work. Deepak also keeps visiting Delhi due to his work.
Once when Arti comes to Delhi, she leaves her handbag. Deepak wants to return it to her. Well, that’s how love story begins in Hindi
films. Both fall in love with each other. The new thing about this movie is flurry of letters from Nainital to Kerala and vice versa.
In this age of e-mails and fax, it is quite refreshing and nostalgic.
Deepak’s bold and beautiful boss Sushmita Sen is in love with him. When she was about to claim her love, Deepak announces that he’s in
love with someone he has never met or seen. Sush does not create any fuss and meekly surrenders to her true love.
But how can a movie keep going on without its hero and heroine seeing each other. So, the director now decides that the two lovers
should meet. A sweater is used as a means of recognition. Quite a novel idea. But it’s a Hindi movie. Nothing happens without some
drama thrown in it. So, after a lot of unnecessary drama, the unseen lovers finally see each other. After this, it’s usual song and
romance affair.
The most surprising thing of the movie is Sushmita Sen’s acting. She has done good job. Perhaps, this film will give boost to her so
far not-so-successful film career. Sanjay Kapoor once again fails to impress. Priya Gill looks pretty. She has got beautiful eyes,
which go well in mushy roles.
Some of the songs are really good. ‘Pehli, pehli Bar Mohabbat Ki Hai’ is the best of the lot. ‘Dilber, Dilber’, the sizzling number
picturised on Sanjay Kapoor and Sushmita is also getting popular.
Other good thing of the movie is the beautiful locales of Nainital and Kerala. The movie has good picturisation, which captures
natural beauty of Nainital and Kerala.
Overall, a good and clean movie which can be watched for Sushmita Sen, Priya Gill, Nainital and Kerala. But how much success will this
movie have at the Box Office, ‘Sirf’ time can tell
