Dal Wala Gosht
Mutton marinated in yogurt and sauted in a dal
mixture
Ingredients
Marinate Mixture :
1 LB OR 500 GMs. of boneless
mutton, cleaned & washed
1/2 cup Curd/Yogurt
Juice of one Lime
1/2 tsp. Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp. Garam masala powder
For Dal :
1/2 cup Chana (bengal gram dal) dal
1/2 cup Tuvar (yellow lentils)
dal
1/2 tsp. Turmeric powder
1 tbsp. Green chili chopped
3 tbsp. Oil
1 tsp. Whole Garam masala
3 medium sized Onions, finely
sliced
1 tbsp. Green chili chopped
1 tbsp. each of Ginger -
Garlic paste
2 tbsp. Coriander powder
1 tsp. Red chili powder
For Tadka :
1/2 tsp. Mustard seeds
1 tsp. Cumin seeds
2-3 whole Red Chillies
A handful of chopped coriander
leaves
2 tsp. Amchur (mango powder)
powder
1/2 tsp. Garam masala powder
Salt according to taste
Serve with
Naan & Hot Chapatis
Method
1. Marinate mutton in
the mentioned marinate mixture and leave aside for 3-4 hours.
2. Now take chana dal and tuvar dal and cook it. Add turmeric and
green chilies, cover the pan and cook till the dal is fully cooked. Grind
the dal in the mixer & keep aside.
3. Take a pan, put 1 tbsp. oil in it and then add the whole Garam
Masala and add onion, green chilies and sauté well.
4.When the onions gets golden brown add ginger - garlic paste,
coriander powder, red chili powder, cook for some time. Now add the
marinated mutton & grinded dal to this mixture and sauté it.
For Tadka :
1. Put the remaining
oil in a pan and give tadka of mustard seeds, cumin seeds and whole red
chili, sprinkle coriander leaves and cover the pan and simmer it for about
an hour.
2. Finely to this mixture add tomatoes, mango powder, add a little
salt, garam masala powder, and cover it again for 20 minutes and cook till
the mutton is fully cooked. Serve hot.
